Location/Description
Perioperative Services is located on the second floor and includes: PreAdmission Testing (PAT) office, 11 bed Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), 5 Operating Suites, Central Sterile, and a 5 bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

PreAdmission Testing
Patients requiring general or regional anesthesia for their surgery will need to attend a PreAdmission Testing (PAT) appointment. The appointment will be made at the time the surgical procedure is scheduled and should take place several days prior to the date of surgery in the PreAdmission Testing office. During this preoperative evaluation visit, the surgical patient will speak with a nurse and/or an anesthesiologist regarding their health status. Tests may include lab work, chest x-rays, EKG, etc. Your doctor along with an anesthesiologist will order all necessary tests. CRMC performs all pre-surgical tests on an outpatient basis.

Ambulatory Surgery Unit
Coffee Regional Medical Center has an Ambulatory (one-day) Surgery Unit on site for those procedures not requiring an extensive hospital stay. This unit offers each patient a private room for their preoperative preparation and their post operative discharge. More than 80 percent of all surgeries at CRMC are outpatient surgeries. Outpatient surgery is certainly more common in today’s healthcare environment, enabling the patient to recover within the comforts of their own home. All patients who have received anesthesia or sedation require a competent adult to accompany them home (the patient can not legally drive a vehicle).

Operating Room
Our philosophy of respect, integrity, advocacy and compassion help provide an optimal surgical outcome. We have a surgical team that is truly dedicated to quality patient care. Our skilled OR staff, including registered nurses and certified technicians specializing in surgery, work as a team along with your surgeon and anesthesia provider to individualize patient care.

Post Anesthesia Care Unit
The PACU is where patients go to recover after surgery from anesthesia. The PACU is staffed by qualified registered nurses who are specifically trained to provide care after surgery. All patients who require Phase 1 nursing care after anesthesia will go to the PACU until they are assessed and safe to be transferred to the next level of care. Patients who will be going home will be returned to the ASU for further care and discharge. Patients who will be staying in the hospital will be transferred to the appropriate nursing unit.
