Welcome to Douglas, Georgia!
Douglas...the county seat of Coffee County, is unique among smaller cites with its bustling downtown, a thriving economy, and a strong industrial and agricultural influence. Douglas was mapped in 1858 on 50 acres of land, donated by J.S. Pearson and named after Stephen A. Douglas, a Presidential candidate running against Abraham Lincoln.

In 1895, the railroad came to Douglas and the town began to boom. Douglas has continued to grow and prosper as one of Georgiašs progressive economic centers. Our heritage has been preserved and is still visible through historic architecture, business centers, and natural assets.
