SAFE SEDATION

Anesthesiologists have responsibility for the safety, well-being, and comfort of patients during and after surgery. These highly trained physicians may induce unconsciousness with general anesthesia or use regional or “local” anesthetics, such as nerve blocks or epidurals, in which only one part of the body is made numb, while closely monitoring patients’ vital signs and responses. They also provide sedation for pain or anxiety related to surgical, obstetrical or other medical procedures. Coffee Regional Medical Center’s full-service anesthesiology team is available around the clock, every day of the year. The anesthesiology team also includes nurse anesthetists, PA anesthetists, and anesthesiology technicians.
