How are Funds Used?

Gifts are used to support specific projects judged by the community, hospital, and volunteer Foundation leaders to have the greatest impact on the health of the community. Gifts have funded multiple projects including the purchase of birthing beds, a 64 slice CT scanner, and the state-of-the-art Wellness Center.

3D Mammography Technology

Foundation efforts have helped raise funds to purchase the most revolutionary new tool to screen and detect breast cancer. The Hologic 3D Mammography system contains a process known as Tomosynthesis to produce a 3D mammogram, in addition to a conventional 2D mammogram. Tomosynthesis uses precise, 3D digital images to create a complete reconstruction of the breast.

Infusion Center

Seeing a need for local infusion services, CRMC with the help of the foundation, opened the CRMC Infusion Center in late 2017. We saw a need and felt passionately that patients shouldn't have to travel long distances for infusion services, and now they don't have to.

WAYS TO GIVE

Any way you want – one time, on a continuing basis, or a planned gift of money, stocks or insurance.

Tribute Gifts

When you make a gift in honor of someone or to celebrate a special occasion, the Foundation will acknowledge your gift to the person you designate, keeping the amount of the gift confidential. You also will receive acknowledgement of your generosity for tax purposes.

RURAL TAX CREDIT

What is the Georgia HEART rural hospital organization (“RHO”) expense tax credit?

To support rural health initiatives, in 2016, the Georgia General Assembly passed, and Governor Nathan Deal signed into law, Senate Bill (“SB”) 258, legislation that, effective January 1, 2017, awards Georgia income tax credits to individual and corporate taxpayers who contribute to qualified rural hospital organizations (“RHOs”) located in Georgia.
Presently, 56 rural hospitals are eligible to participate in the RHO expense tax credit program. Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is a qualified rural hospital organization (“RHO”) and has partnered with Georgia HEART Program to administer the program. CRMC has partnered with the Georgia HEART Hospital Program to implement this exciting new rural hospital tax credit.

How much can I contribute for a tax credit?

If you pay Georgia income taxes, you are eligible to receive a tax credit for contributing to Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC). From January 1 through June 30 of each taxable year, the following limits apply with respect to contributions:

In the case of a single individual or a head of household, a 100% Georgia income tax credit for contributions to RHOs, up to a limit of $5,000;

In the case of a married couple filing a joint return, a 100% Georgia income tax credit for contributions to RHOs, up to a limit of $10,000; and

An individual who is a member of a limited liability company, shareholder of an “S” Corporation, or partner in a partnership (pass-through entities) is allowed a 100% Georgia income tax credit for up to $10,000 of the amount they contribute to a RHO, so long as they would have paid Georgia income tax in that amount on their share of taxable income from the pass-through entity

What is the process for contributing to CRMC for a tax credit?

Because the law limits total tax credits available each year to $60 million, taxpayers who wish to participate in the Georgia HEART hospital tax credit program must be pre-approved by the Georgia Department of Revenue (“DOR”).

This simply means that the DOR sets aside a certain amount of the available tax credits specifically for the respective taxpayer. Once the taxpayer submits to Georgia HEART their request for pre-approval, the Georgia HEART team provides the taxpayer with step-by-step instructions for completing the remainder of the process. Details of each step are described below:

  • Taxpayer completes Georgia HEART 2024 tax credit application
  • Georgia HEART electronically submits taxpayer applications to DOR
  • DOR informs taxpayer and Georgia HEART of approval within 30 days, indicating the amount for which approval was granted
  • Georgia HEART emails taxpayers with detailed instructions regarding how and where to make their payment
  • Taxpayer sends a check to the Georgia HEART office (made payable to the hospital) by the posted deadline, which is 180 days from the date of DOR approval, or December 31, 2024, whichever comes first
  • Georgia HEARTsends you instructions on how to file your contribution confirmation with DOR
  • Taxpayer claims the Georgia income tax credit when they file their state income tax return for the year in which the contribution is made

How much can I contribute for a tax credit after June 30 each year?

After June 30 of each year, for so long as a portion of the $75 million annual cap on RHO tax credits is available to offset their Georgia income tax liability, individual taxpayers may make unlimited contributions to RHOs for a corresponding 100% Georgia income tax credit.

On or before May 15 of each year through June 30, individual taxpayers will be able to ‘make a HEART Appointment’ on the Georgia HEART website to authorize Georgia HEART to submit their post-June 30 tax credit pre-approval forms to the DOR.

Your contribution will increase our hospital funding and our ability to provide for the health care of individuals in our community!

Donations through this funding are dedicated to expanding and enhancing care and services in cardiology, general surgery, oncology, orthopedics, and women’s health to ensure more patients in our region can receive quality care close to home.

So you can now help improve health care in our community for you and your loved ones through this special opportunity. Hurry – time is limited for the tax credit opportunity. Once the cap allowed by the State of Georgia is reached, no other applications will be accepted.
