About The DAISY Foundation
The DAISY Foundation was established in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at the young age of 33. DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system. During Mr. Barnes 8 week hospitalization, his family was overcome by the care and compassion his nurses provided both Patrick and his family. As a way to honor his memory, a foundation was created to recognize extraordinary nurses who are truly making a difference every day.
What is The DAISY Award?
This is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the amazing clinical skills and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Coffee Regional Medical Center is a proud participant in this program. To find out more, visit The DAISY Foundation
How often will DAISY Awards be selected?
Nominations will be gathered every month and the award will be given on a quarterly basis. The winner will be determined by the DAISY & BEE Award Committee here at CRMC.
