Pediatrics at Coffee Regional Medical Center

Pediatricians are the primary physicians for most young children from birth through childhood and adolescence, generally considered to end at 21. They provide primary care for healthy children, including physical exams and immunizations, monitoring their physical, mental, and emotional development, and diagnosing any issues as they arise. They also care for young patients who are acutely or chronically ill, often collaborating with other physicians specializing in the area of care. In addition to physicians, nurses, and other clinicians and staff well trained in pediatrics, Coffee Regional Medical Center has 21 private acute-care rooms designed specifically for younger patients.

Kids Alliance for Better Care (KidsABC)

As a participating hospital in the Kids Alliance for Better Care (KidsABC), we are committed to strengthening pediatric emergency care in Coffee County. The alliance, established in 2023, is a collaboration between Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM), its Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center (GRHIC) and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. As a rural hospital, we sometimes face unique challenges in our ability to treat and keep pediatric patients here at home. KidsABC is focused on improving access to quality pediatric care by helping participating hospitals, like Coffee Regional, acquire child-friendly equipment, complete pediatric-specific emergency care staff training, and implement the latest protocols and policies for treating children with critical conditions such as asthma and diabetic ketoacidosis.
