Coffee Regional Medical Center Honors the Life and Legacy of Dr. Guy Whitley Moorman, Jr., DDS

Douglas, GA  (March 11, 2026)  – Coffee Regional Medical Center joins the community in mourning the passing of Dr. Guy Whitley Moorman, Jr., DDS, a respected healthcare leader, longtime dentist, and dedicated member of the hospital’s governing boards whose service to the region spanned decades.

A lifelong resident of Douglas and Coffee County, Dr. Moorman graduated from Coffee County High School in 1962 before attending Emory University for his pre-dental studies. He later earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1969. Following graduation, he served as a captain in the United States Army Dental Corps, completing a two-year tour of active duty before returning home to Douglas in 1971 to begin his dental practice.

In addition to caring for patients throughout his career, Dr. Moorman was deeply committed to strengthening healthcare services in the community through his leadership and service with Coffee Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Moorman’s relationship with Coffee Regional Medical Center began in 1974 when he received his initial appointment to the medical staff. Over the years, he remained a steadfast supporter of the hospital and its mission. He was last reappointed to the medical staff in July 2015 and was later granted honorary status in June 2016.

His leadership also extended to several governing boards that guide the hospital’s operations and strategic direction. Dr. Moorman served as a member of the Coffee County Hospital Authority from 1996 to 2019 and served as chairman from 2013 to 2019. He also served on the board of CRMC, Inc. from 1999 to 2006, including a term as chairman in 2003, and again from 2009 to 2013. Most recently, he served as a member of the CRH Health Care, Inc. board beginning in 2020.

Throughout his life, Dr. Moorman was known not only for his commitment to healthcare but also for his passion for environmental stewardship and for fostering meaningful relationships across the region. His thoughtful leadership and dedication to the well-being of the community left a lasting and positive impact on Coffee County and beyond.

He also formerly served on the CRMC board and was a member emeritus of our medical staff. Dr. Moorman wanted only the best for our hospital and for healthcare in our community. We will be forever grateful for his friendship and support.”
